Frequently Asked Questions

1) How Long Does It Take?

The timings listed below are the usual turnaround times. At busier times, the turnaround time may be longer. When you make an enquiry, I shall be able to advise you what the turnaround time shall be.

Generally:

  • For a document of up to 3,000 words, I would require 2 days.

  • For a document of up to 5,000 words, I would require 3 days.

  • For a document of up to 10,000 words, I would require 4 days.

  • For a document of up to 15,000 words, I would require 5 days.

Please note, if you require a quicker or an urgent turnaround of your work, please let me know and we can discuss your requirements. If my schedule allows, then a quicker turnaround can often be arranged. There will likely be an extra cost for a faster turnaround.

2) How Far in Advance Can I Pre-Book?

There is no limit as to how far in advance you can pre-book your copy-editing/proofreading. Many people book all of their assignments for the academic year in September/October, but you can contact me at any time for a single assignment or multiple pieces of work.

It is advisable to book as far in advance as possible – with this being especially true for dissertations or larger assignments. Generally, those who book in advance are able to choose which date they would like to send their work to me.

3) Is Your Service Confidential?

Yes, absolutely! I ensure that everything you send me is completely confidential and I do not keep your work after I have completed it. I shall never reveal your details or the work I have done for you to any person.

4) Can You Reduce My Word-Count?

This is a question I am regularly asked. In general, I do not deliberately reduce the word-count of an assignment. This is because it is not my job to identify what is essential and what can be removed from a piece of writing. Indeed, when a work is being copy-edited or proofread, then the word-count can go up or down, depending on the changes that need to be made.

5) When Are You Available?

I am available 365 days a year. Please use the “Contact Us” section of this website (or write directly to enquiries@proofedbyart.com) to send me a message. I will then be able to inform you as to whether I am available for your assignment(s).

6) Can I Change My Pre-Booked Date?

Yes, I allow people to change their pre-booked date for a fee of £10. This is subject to my availability. If you need to change the date of your slot, please contact me as soon as possible to discuss this. I will always try and find a solution. Please Note: It is not always possible to change a pre-booked date if my schedule is already full or if it is too close to your pre-booked date.

7) What If My Work is Not Ready on Time?

If your work is not ready on time for your pre-booked date, please contact me as soon as possible. Subject to my availability, I will always try and work with you to see what can be done.

Note: If you submit your work after 9am (GMT) on the day your work is booked for, a £10 administrative cost shall be charged.

8) What If I Write More Words Than I Have Booked For?

You should contact us as soon as possible if you think your work shall have more words than you have booked for. We shall always try to assist you and complete your extra words. The extra words will be charged at £6 (for up to 700 excess words) or £12 (for up to 1,200 words). There will also be a £6 administration fee if your words exceed the agreed amount.

9) Do You Offer a Plagiarism Check?

I do not offer a plagiarism check for your work. If you are concerned that a part of your work may be plagiarised, I offer a paraphrasing service – Please see the “Services” section of this website for details.

10) How Do I Book a Slot/Pay For My Copy-Editing/Proofreading?

Once you have contacted me, and we have agreed a time and date for your work, I shall send you an invoice. I ask that payment is made via Internet banking. The detail for this payment method shall be included in the invoice.

Once the invoice has been sent to you, I shall put a temporary hold on your slot for 48 hours. This gives you time to make the payment and prevents anyone else from booking your slot. As soon as the payment has been made, I (or the Editorial Coordinator) shall confirm that your slot is booked via email.

11) How Quickly Do You Reply to Messages?

We shall respond to all messages and emails within 24 hours. Usually, we respond much quicker than this. During busy times, there may be a delay in responding to your message. When I am working on someone’s assignment, I give it 100% of my attention and so I shall answer emails once I am able to.

12) What Time Do I Need to Send My Document?

Unless otherwise agreed, I request that all work is sent to me by 9am (London Time) on the date of your pre-booked slot. If I receive your work later than this time, there may be a delay in when the work is returned to you.

13) Can I Send You My Work Early?

You are very welcome to send your work early to me. If I am able to complete your work earlier than scheduled, then I shall do this for no extra fee. If you send your work early to me, I will inform you as to when I shall be able to return the document.

14) Do You Offer Refunds?

I’m afraid that I do not offer refunds. This is because the service requires you to reserve a slot. Once that slot is reserved, I do not allow anyone else to book it. In this sense, you are paying for the reservation of my time. If you fail to use that slot or you do not send me the full document on the pre-booked date, it shall not be possible to receive a refund.

15) Do You Have Any Expectations of Clients?

I have a number of expectations as to the work that is sent to me. Firstly, I ask that you have spell-checked your own work before it is submitted to me. Secondly, I ask that you have checked the document for issues. My job is to help you fix mistakes rather than to finish your assignment. Thirdly, I ask that you adhere to what we have agreed upon – so you do not send me a document with more words than paid for or ask for additional services (i.e., paraphrasing certain parts) without discussing this with me first.

Finally, I ask that you save your document with a helpful file name (i.e., not “Law Essay”). Thus, I request that the file name is presented as “NAME - WORD COUNT - SUBJECT - DEADLINE”.

16) Can You Give Feedback on Assignments?

I provide brief feedback on each assignment for no extra fee. Comprehensive feedback can be provided if needed.
